Overcoming Daily Struggles
Moving Forward in Faith
Have you ever felt emotional over something and then wondered, “Why did I respond that way?” “What is my issue?” When life isn’t moving forward in the direction to bring you righteousness, peace and joy, it’s time to do a heart examination to find out why.
Mary was having a lot of company and was excited about sharing her home with friends, but then concern started to increase as her mind went crazy over several issues, “When am I going to clean the house, how can I manage the kids, grocery shopping, cooking? Where will they sleep? When will I have the time?” These questions opened the door for fear, stress and anxiety and grew to the point, it wasn’t fun anymore.
Whenever you feel like you’re beginning to be overwhelmed and don’t know what to do, turn to the promises of God in the Bible. God’s promises help you to move forward in faith. The enemy always tries to distract us with concerns of the day, but God has a bigger and better plan. Look at it this way. If a friend makes you a promise, you are entitled to receive it, depend upon it and trust in the one who made it. The promise received from someone is qualified according to the character and integrity of the one who spoke it. When we believe the promise, trust the integrity of the speaker, all fear and anxiety are banished from our heart. We are then settled and peace is elevated.
What is true in the natural is much truer in the Spirit. When the Holy Spirit speaks into our lives a promise from the bible, that is our truth. All lies from the enemy are banished. Therefore, the promises found in the bible is guaranteed by the quality of God’s Nature. When we know what God is like, it’s easy to believe Him. The Bible says, “God is love,” I John 4:8. What we believe about God, how we think about Him, what we trust about Him are the most important issues we will ever face in life. “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life,’ John 14:6. That is a promise we can depend on to be true. He has given us His Word and that is the answer to every concern.
Every promise in the Bible is from God and is a cast-iron guarantee. When a promise is given, the gift of the Holy Spirit is given with it. He becomes our tutor to school us in response and faith. A promise must be received and must be studied and fully understood. What is God saying to you? Are there any obvious conditions that need to be fulfilled? The Holy Spirit is given to help us and to establish us in God’s grace. Grace is the empowering Presence of God to enable us to enjoy the process of development and ensure that conditions are met. Therefore, if you are facing a challenge, find a promise and receive grace to fulfill the promise. God has stated, “Every promise is yes and amen to the Glory of God,” 2 Corinthians 1:20. Change your focus from the problem to the promise and you will see a shift in the spirit realm, “Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven,” Matthew 6:10. That’s also a promise God has for everyone. By praying His will, there’s a shift in the spirit realm that brings His Kingdom to earth. Therefore, the Kingdom cancels every struggle and turns the struggle into a blessing. For example, “I’m anxious about speaking at the meeting tomorrow.” Find the promise to cancel anxiety, “Open your mouth and I will fill it,” Psalm 81:10. Praying the promises is the key when you are going through hard times. It is the way that you will be grounded in truth. It is the way that you will be able to stay joyful and hopeful even in your darkest moments because “God’s Word never returns void,” Isaiah 55:11.
